SHEA BUTTER

I have had people asking me about the Shea butter I use in my products and if I sell it. Up to this point I have not for I can only get about 5# a year from the lady I get it from.  Why is that I have been ask, well here you go.

I think the Shea Butter I use is some of the best you can get! Unlike most of what you see in the stores and at some of the outdoor markets, what sets what I use apart from others is that it comes from one family, most of what you see is a mix, from the same region but from multiple families and most times it’s mixed from multiple regions as well.

I met Momma Ray one day at a health far were we talked for hours about the benefits of using pure and natural things for skin care.  She told me about her family that is still in Togo Africa, and how the kids go out and get the Shea nuts by hand and handcraft the Shea butter themselves.  They keep what they need and send the rest to her. She gave me a small amount and we exchanged phone numbers. I use it to make up an aromatherapy body butter for her and went by to give it to her. About a month later I got a call from her asking if I could make her up more and something for her daughter’s skin, who had very bad acne. I told her I would trade her for some more of the Shea butter. At that time she could only give me about 3# a year as all of her family use it so she never had much to spare.

Over the last year all her kids have moved out and now she had more then she could use. This last time I got 10# from her. Now I have some to offer you all of you, not much, but some.

Shea Butter has been used for centuries in Africa as a decongestant, an anti-inflammatory for sprains and arthritis, healing salve, lotion for hair and skin care, and cooking oil. However, the protective and emollient properties of Shea Butter are most valued for skin care. In recent clinical trials, Shea Butter was found to help to protect skin against climate and UV aggressions, prevent wrinkle formation, soothe irritated and chapped skin, and moisturize the epidermis. Shea Butter also enhances cell regeneration and capillary circulation, which helps prevent and minimize stretch marks, inflammations, and scarring.

I have been ask why the Shea I use is not the dark yellow that you see in some stores, this is because the shea I use has not had color added to it, true unrefined Shea will have a very light yellow to a rich cream color, but should never be the dark yellow you see with some in stores.

Right now I have 4oz sizes for sale at $8.00.
